HAVE YOU CONSIDERED BEING AN UMPIRE?

Our sport requires volunteers in all aspects if it is not just to continue but move forward. Umpiring is an integral part of the game in Scotland in over 30 competitions and Championships every season without which many of them would not run so well or even happen if there were no umpires. Umpiring is not just turning up and doing the occasional measure as those who do it well know.

So why do it? Some of the good reasons are highlighted below with the final one being perhaps one of the most important.

  •  Love and respect for the game
  • Giving something back to the sport
  • Improving our knowledge and umpiring skills
  • Satisfaction that comes from working as a team
  • Being involved in the organization of a well-run event
  • The privilege of being involved in high level events
  • Meeting people and developing friendships

If you are interested, even if just to learn more about the game without a commitment to becoming an umpire,  then a one day Umpire Course is being held at Forfar Ice Rink on 5th November which will prepare you  for some of the roles umpires do as well as learn more about the rules.

If you would like to attend please complete an application form which can be downloaded here

If it is not possible for you to make Forfar on the 5th November, please keep an eye out for future courses on the UMPIRES PAGES or email Alan Stanfield for further information on how to get involved.
