The Royal Caledonian Curling Club is delighted to announce a three year sponsorship deal with The Co-operative Funeralcare for the Scottish Curling Championships. The UK’s largest funeral director will sponsor the RCCC competition that determines which men’s and women’s teams will represent Scotland in the World Championships.

The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Championships will take place from 13th to 19th February 2012 at the Dewars Centre, Perth. Admission is free and BBC Sport will be broadcasting highlights on BBC2 with live web streaming of the finals online.

Bruce Crawford (CEO at Royal Caledonian Curling Club) said: “We are very pleased to be working with Co-operative Funeralcare who have a wide reach across Scotland and a reputation for quality and community involvement. We will all enjoy seeing the best curlers compete in our national championships.”

The qualifying rounds for The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Championships take place on January 14th to 15th and January 20th to 22nd. The top teams will go forward to compete at the finals in Perth.

David Collingwood, National Operations Director for The Co-operative Funeralcare, said: “Scotland produces world class curling athletes and we are proud to support the championships which will propel them to the international stage. Winners of previous championships have often proved themselves to be a formidable force on the world stage and I hope that with our support they can continue their success.”

The winning teams from The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Curling Championships will represent Scotland at the World Women’s Championships in Alberta, Canada, from March 17th to 25th and the World Men’s Championships in Basel, Switzerland, from March 31st to April 8th.

Scotland has been highly successful on the international stage in recent times. Eve Muirhead led the Scotland women’s team to Gold at the European Championships in Moscow in December 2011 and Tom Brewster’s men’s team were silver medalists at the 2011 World Championships.
