The curling season opened at Harvies on Monday 16th September with the traditional Harvies Opening Bonspiel.
All five clubs who curl at Harvies were invited to ice two teams apiece to compete for cash prizes. The format of the competition meant each team played four two end games against one team from each of the other clubs.
The two Largs sides were Largs 1, who comprised of Ian Mackie, Henry Kerr, Robin Goodall and Ron Copeland.
The Largs 2 side was Jim Welsh, Robin Thomson, Linn Munton and Ada Thomson.
Both Largs sides did well with the Largs 2 side finishing in overall 4th place, with 1 win, 2 peels and 1 loss.
Largs 1 fared slightly better, finishing in 3rd position and only missing out on second place by one shot. Their record was 3 wins and 1 loss.
The event was won by one of the Auchenames teams, and thanks to Donnie Sheddan of Ardrossan for the organising on the night and collating the scores.
