Stewarton Heather was formed in 1842 and is the sole survivor of two clubs Stewarton Curling Club and Stewarton Heather Curling Club.
Stewarton played at Clerkland while Stewarton Heather played at Fullwood. The Stewarton club members were mainly from the textile industry and The Heather were from agriculture and land workers, now, there is a very broad mix from all walks of life.
In 1884 a former member John Currie went to visit friends in America and set up our sister club, Waltham Curling Club in Illinois USA. They still play for the John Currie trophy annually.
We are a mixed club with no age or curling ability limit. There are junior members’ right through to senior citizens.
Most of our games are played at the Galleon Sports Centre, Kilmarnock.
We play internal leagues, inter club games and members regularly represent The Galleon/Ayrshire Province at area, national and international games.
Everyone is welcome no matter their ability. We can arrange coaching (when ice available) for beginners and those wishing to better their skills
Contact any club member or telephone 01560 484207 for details.
